What hair type is Dream Coat for?

Dream Coat is good for all hair types, but especially for frizzy hair, dry hair, and coarse, wavy, or curly hair. It’s also safe for color-, Keratin-, or Brazilian-treated hair.

Does the shampoo I use affect Dream Coat results?

If you use a shampoo that contains ingredients (like silicones, conditioning agents, oils, and thickening agents) that don’t rinse out completely and leave a filmy coating on your hair, you will not get optimal glossy, glassy results from Dream Coat. We recommend you shampoo with Color Security Shampoo, our unique sulfate-free, no-residue formula that leaves your hair 100% clean and sparkling.

Can I use other styling products with Dream Coat?Color Wow Dream Kale-Infused, Coconut-Infused, and Carb-Infused Dream Cocktails, and Raise the Root Thicken and Lift Spray.

For best results, we don’t recommend using other products with Dream Coat during application, except for our Color Wow Dream Cocktails and Raise the Root, as these will not diminish results. Once you finish blow-drying, you can use other styling products as usual.

Do I need to use heat with Dream Coat?

Yes, you must use heat and tension when applying Dream Coat in order to activate its frizz-fighting formula.

Can I let my hair air dry then use a flat iron to activate Dream Coat?Color Wow Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray.

No, you must use a blow-dryer and a brush to activate Dream Coat. However, using a flat iron post blow-dry will only enhance your hair’s shine. In the 3 to 4 days following your Dream Coat treatment you can air dry then flat iron and still get the same results. We suggest adding a misting of Color Wow Extra Shine Spray before flat ironing for an even more intense shine.

Can I color my hair with Dream Coat on it?

Yes, it’s safe to color your hair after using Dream Coat because its formula will be broken down by the high pH level and hydrogen peroxide in the color product. We do recommend shampooing your hair at least once prior to color application.

Is Dream Coat safe for extensions?

Yes! Not only is it safe for extensions, it can improve their texture and shine. If you use Dream Coat on your natural hair, we definitely suggest treating your extensions as well for a cohesive finished look.

Is Dream Coat gluten-free, vegan, or sulfate-free?

Dream Coat is completely gluten-free, vegan, and free of sulfates, which means it’s gentle enough to use on color-treated hair, extensions, or hair that has a Keratin or Brazilian blowout.

Can I use Dream Coat on non-dyed hair?

Of course! Dream Coat is not just for color-treated hair. It’s for anyone who wants amazing humidity-proofing, a sleek, smooth, glossy finish or wants to achieve Chris Appleton’s signature glass hair styles.

Does Dream Coat work for thin hair?

Dream Coat’s weightless, featherlight formula will not build up on your hair or get heavy, so your hair will not fall flat. If you’re looking for a thicker, fuller finish, try using our Carb-Infused Dream Cocktail before applying Dream Coat.

Can you curl your hair after using Dream Coat?

Absolutely! While Dream Coat is known for its straight and smooth results, Dream Coat is also popularly known for creating textured, piecey, glass wave looks.
